Mission & Vision

Mission

The Mission of the Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) is to:

1. Ensure the success and excellence of the University and its faculty in meeting the research potential of a comprehensive metropolitan research university
2. Advance collaborations between University researchers, government entities, NGO’s, and the private sector to provide support services for community-relevant research
3. Provide innovative social science research methodology, laboratories and facilities to leverage research opportunities and outcomes
4. Endow cutting-edge transdisciplinary projects with an incubative environment and research support to foster major funding capabilities
5. Stimulate transdisciplinary and innovative research discussion and discovery from which new collaborations can grow
6. Advance knowledge that has impact in serving the needs of the local and global community

The Vision of the Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) at Arizona State University is to be the nation’s leading Institute for transdisciplinary social science research and to contribute to the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation that distinguishes Arizona State University as the New American University---a comprehensive metropolitan research university which balances access and excellence, making it regionally competitive, nationally distinct and globally relevant.
